CELPIP Email writing by RupIELTS Institute ( Solved ) guides about how to respond in response to a Email writing question in CELPIP exam.

You have a full time job and are also doing a part time evening course.
You now find that you cannot continue the course.
Write an email to the course tutor in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  1. Describe the situation
  2. Explain why you cannot continue at this time
  3. Say what action you would like to take

Dear Sir,

I am a student of your evening class on Basic Computer Functions and I am writing to inform you that, unfortunately, I will not be able to pursue this course anymore.
The main reason, due to which I have to step back, is that I work for all the weekdays for full-time. Although, I had planned out the things well in advance, but, the change in my work timings is forcing me to leave the course unfinished.

Actually, I work as an English teacher at a coaching institute and my normal work timings allow me to be free at 5:00pm. However, recently, my co-worker met with an accident due to which I have to stay at my workplace for longer duration. Consequently, it will not be feasible for me to reach for the class in time, so, I thought it would be wise not to do it this time.

Nevertheless, I am looking forward to do this course in the next semester and it is my earnest request to you to put my name for the advance registration of this course for the next term. I hope you will be compassionate enough to understand my situation.

Yours sincerely,
Margaret Smith

CELPIP Email writing by RupIELTS Institute ( Solved ) – Informal

One of your friends recently had a birthday celebration, but you missed it and you forgot to tell your friend that you could not attend. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:

  1. Apologize for missing the birthday celebration.
  2. Explain why you missed it and why you didn’t tell your friend.
  3. And say what you would like to do to show that you are sorry.

Dear Harry,

Belated happy birthday to you!

I am writing to say sorry for not being with you on your special day. I understand your displeasure in this regard but the circumstances were unavoidable.

On that day, when I was about to leave for your birthday celebration, I got a call from my neighbor saying that his son has got injured while playing with children and he wanted me to take them to the hospital. I could not deny and did what was required in that situation. In such an emergency, I could not even call you to tell that I am not coming.

I hope you will understand my situation and forgive me. However, in order to compensate this, I have arranged a dance party at my place on next Saturday at 8:00 pm. I’ve invited all our college friends at the party. I will be eagerly waiting for you!

Yours lovingly,
Margaret Smith
