The charts below show what UK graduate and postgraduate students who did not go into full time work did after leaving college in 2008.

The bar graphs illustrate the path UK graduate and postgraduate students took instead of opting for full time job after finishing their university in 2008.

Overall, it is apparent that maximum number of graduates and postgraduates chose to do further study, whereas voluntary work was chosen by the least.

The number of graduate students who opted for part time work was 17,735 which was the biggest group of graduates. These part-time work graduates outnumbered the graduate students who chose to be unemployed, that was 16, 235. While a considerable number of graduate students went for further study at 29,665, only a small minority of 3500 did voluntary work.

Post graduates also took the same path as graduates. Minor difference was seen in postgraduates who selected further study and part-time work which was 2,725 and 2,535 respectively. However, far more post graduate students were unemployed at 1,625 than the ones who went for voluntary work, totaling to just 345.
