IELTS Academic Writing: People’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

 

Answer 1:

The bar graph illustrates the outcome of a survey about Australian’s coffee and tea consuming and purchasing habits in five Australian cities.

Overall, more than half of the population went to the cafes except people from Adelaide. Although fresh coffee was bought in all the cities, instant coffee remained a much popular choice.

In Sydney and Melbourne, the people who went to cafeteria for tea or coffee accounted nearly same to about 60%. While, the proportion of people who bought instant coffee was slightly higher in Melbourne than Sydney, that was 47% and 45% respectively. On contrary, more people bought fresh coffee in Sydney than in Melbourne.

Moreover, the maximum proportion of people who went to cafe was seen in Hobart followed by 55% in Brisbane and 50% in Adelaide. Meanwhile, equal proportion of people bought fresh coffee in Brisbane and Adelaide, however it was comparatively higher in Hobart at about 37%. At the same time,  people interested to purchase instant coffee was nearly close, amounting to little more than 50% in Brisbane and Hobart, whereas it was just 50% in Adelaide.

Answer 2:

The information illustrated in the bar graph gives insights into the shopping pattern for tea and coffee, for five cities in Australia.

To begin with, the ratio of people, who preferred to purchase fresh coffee in the past 4 weeks, was maximum for Sydney, at around 44% and lowest for Brisbane and Adelaide at around 34%, whereas for others the numbers hovered in the range of 39% to 41%.However, the percentage of consumers, who indulged in buying instant coffee during the  same period , was greatest for Hobart, standing at around 54% and was lowest for Sydney,  neighbouring 46%.In terms of the percentage, for people who visited any store, either for coffee or tea, the clear winner was Melbourne with numbers in the vicinity of 64%.But, Sydney and Hobart were also not far behind and stood at 61% and 63% respectively. It is worth mentioning that, only in case of Adelaide, the number people who went to purchase either coffee or tea, was lower than the count of people buying instant coffee.

Overall, it can be seen that the patrons for instant coffee had always been outnumbering those of fresh coffee in all the five cities.
