The table represents data on underground rail network in six cities of the world.

Overall, it is apparent that although London was the oldest country to have underground railway system with the longest route, maximum passengers traveled in Tokyo.

Opening in 1863, underground railway in London had 775 million passengers annually, whereas significantly higher number of passengers traveled in Paris at 1191 million, which was opened in 1900. Tokyo underground rail network had the third longest route of 155 kilometers, and it carried the largest annual passengers that is 1927 millions.

On the other hand, the shortest route of underground railway line was in Kyoto, only 11 kilometers and the least number of passengers, 45 million traveled with it. Los Angeles is the most recent city to introduce underground railway systems, in 2001 with 50 million passengers annually. However, the number of passengers were almost three times in Washington DC To Los Angeles at 144 million annually and a longer route of 126 kilometers.
